Helena Bayo

Helena Bayo was born in Barcelona, Spain. She received three Superior Titles of Music in Conservatorio del Liceo in Barcelona (Piano, Chamber Music and Theory of Music) She has also studied in the Academy of Alicia de Larrocha at superior level of piano and graduated with First Prize and Distinction. She has a MD in cultural management from Barcelona University.

Helena Bayo studied Orchestra Conduction with Maestro Javier Perez Batista. She is Master of Cultural Gestion at Barcelona University and she is now making her Doctorate in Scenic Arts in University Autónoma in Barcelona. Currently she is the Instrumentalists Coordinator at the Theatre Institute in Barcelona.

Ms. Bayo has won many prizes like Rosa Sabater Prize in Spanish Music Interpretation (1994), Arjau Prize in Catalan Music Interpretation (1995), the First Prize of Foundation Parramon of Music of Catalonia (1995), the Prize in Orchestra Conduction Patronato Vilaseca (2002), to name a few.

Pianist Helena Bayo is devoted to lyrics forever. She was accompanist in National and International Contests of lyrics: Eugenio Marco, Viñas of Barcelona, Operalia in Tokyo. She has had remarkable concerts with famous singer Manuel Ausensi and has made homage to Victoria de Los Angeles commissioned by Barcelona University.

As a pianist Helena Bayo has also intensively participated in many national and international music events. She has performed in Palau Musica Catalana and in Gran Teatro del Liceo (Barcelona), at Santander Festival with Vivaldi Orchestra from Paris, at Lirique Festival (France), in Italy and other countries.

As a conductor her opera repertoire includes Aida, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Guillermo Tell (Guillaume Tell), Flauta Mágica (Die Zauberfloete), La Traviata, Il Trovatore, Rigoletto, Nabucco, La Bohême, Madama Butterfly, Lucia di Lameremoor, Peer Gynt, Cosí fan Tutte, La Vida Breve, El Amor Brujo and her zarzuela repertoire includes Cançó d´Amor I de Guerra, Katiuska, Doña Francisquita, Luisa Fernanda, La Verbena de la Paloma, Marina among others.

She has conducted Johann Strauss Symphonic Orchestra of Spain, Philharmonic Orchestra of Barcelona, Municipal Band of Barcelona, as well as foreign orchestras like the  Opera Classica Internacional Orchestra, and Sofia Symphony Orchestra.
